Inmate Caught With Weapon At Downstate Correctional Facility, Police Say

On Monday, New York State Police investigators announced that on April 18, troopers arrested Brooklyn resident John Hayes following an investigation, that determined that on June 5 last year, Hayes was allegedly in possession of an “improvised weapon” while he was an inmate.

Hayes was charged with a felony count of first-degree promoting prison contraband and arraigned in the Town of Fishkill Court. Following arraignment, Hayes remains remanded in the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision. He is due back in court on May 16 to answer the new charge.
